They were initially connected (via NY-55 west, Sullivan CR-19 and CR-157 north, Ulster CR-47 north and NY-28 east) until the 1940's, when it was determined that the portions currently designated as county roads were not to state route standards, nor was an upgrade feasible for the mountainous route. |
