Notes
Ōsaka 42 is the part of the Sumiyoshi Yao line (commissioned 1 December 1959) designated as a Principal Local Road (Shuyochihodo). The rest of the route is designated as route 179, a General Prefectural Road (Ippanfudo). Maps are obscure as to which parts are 42 or 179 (there are many discrepancies, even among the same maps), and signage appears to be only at the route 30 and route 28 intersections. Wikipedia indicates that the Principal Local Road designation ends near the Takano O-hashi, so that is the route I will assume 42 to be. The route number was previously assigned to the current route 63 (Izumi Sano Iwade line).
