| Notes |
Two sign errors occur on this road. First, at the junction with Route 4 and Route 16, the sign indicates the route as "40." The second, occuring on signs from all directions, indicates that from the T intersection just north of the route 26 overpass, route 42 goes in all three directions. Most maps indicate that route 268 (unsigned until Saitama/Ibaraki border) travels east from here, with route 42 only traveling south or west. Traveling west, route 42 loops around to intersect route 26 (after this point becoming a hidden designation), then duplexing it east across the Edogawa River to the Saitama/Chiba border. At the border, route 42 continues as Chiba Prefectural Route 42 (signed only as the higher-priority route 26). |
